Biography

Presenting Intersections Between Art and Disability in Contemporary Japan 

aliwen is a Chilean non-binary artist, writer and curator based in Tokyo. They are pursuing a DPhil in Cultural Studies at the Graduate School of International Culture and Communication Studies, Waseda University, with support of the Honjo International Scholarship. They are also teaching assistant for the courses “Thinking Power” and “Translation Studies,” at the School of International Liberal Studies, Waseda University. They have received various scholarships, fellowships, and grants, including JASSO (2015), MEXT (2021-2023), Visual AIDS (2022), Arts Council Tokyo (2022), MHz Curationist (2023), I LOVE YOU Project (2023), and DNP Foundation (2025-2026), amongst others.
