Biography

Dr. Emily Yankowitz (she/her) earned her Ph.D. in Yale’s Department of History in 2025. Her research examines how Americans negotiated citizenship from the Revolution to the Fourteenth Amendment. Emily has been a member of the Department of History’s Diversity Committee since 2019 and has particularly advocated for accessibility concerns for people with invisible disabilities, including herself. She was delighted when Kenya Loudd joined the Committee in 2021, and an incredibly productive collaboration began, culminating in the formation of a committee to organize a university-wide conference related to disability and accessibility at Yale. Emily has had the honor and pleasure of being a co-organizer of the first, second, third, and now fourth annual Symposium on Disability and Accessibility.
