Biography

Presenting Public Health and disability research in a Pandemic’s Aftermath: Tensions and Possibilities 

Kara is a PhD candidate in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Kara’s research focuses on the impacts of hostile architecture on the health of disabled people as well as advancing methodological and conceptual approaches for studying ableism in public health. Kara also has extensive experience working in PIC abolitionist projects, particularly with queer and trans people impacted by the criminal punishment system. She has a cat named Mango and finds joy in WNBA basketball and the world-making that is community organizing.
